People call me "BAH"—as in the sound sheep make—because of my initials.
I have gained extensive editorial experience working for Billboard, Forbes, MTV, Genius, Fuse and Mashable as an editor, writer, social strategist, manager, online producer, internship coordinator and diversity advocate in New York City and Los Angeles. Most recently, I was the Senior Celebrity News Editor at Bustle. With keen editorial judgement and an eye on analytics, I pitched, assigned, edited and created news, features, Q&As and SEO content about celebrities in the worlds of music, movies, TV and social media.
I’ve trained as part of the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund and The New York Times Student Journalism Institute. I’ve also written and edited at top newspapers in Phoenix, Cleveland, Milwaukee and Des Moines, covering the entertainment business, the music industry, diversity, equality, social issues, health, crime, courts and major pop culture events such as the Super Bowl, Oscars, Grammys, MTV VMAs, and national elections.
I now live in San Francisco, where I co-parent a puppy named Rey. I am a member of NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists.
Two ongoing career goals I have are to continue creating compelling stories and to foster current and next generations of content creators by collaboratively crafting vital stories across digital, print, social and video. I'd also like to publish several books.
Stories I've written have been picked up by Today Show, New York Times, Associated Press, Ellen Degeneres, ABC, E!, Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, New York Daily News, CBS News, People, Us Magazine, Huffington Post, Entertainment Tonight, Christian Science Monitor, LiveScience, Newsday, Yahoo News and other national and global publications in various languages.
Because of stories I've written, I've been interviewed and quoted in The Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Today Show, USA Today, Businessweek, Huffington Post, International Business Times, Examiner and more.
In the past decade, I've been picked to be on the voting panels for the MTV Video Music Awards and Shorty Awards. I've appeared on TV, online video and radio segments. I've moderated panels South by Southwest, Ad Week, Social Good Summit, Media Summit, Public Relations Society of America, Capitol Congress and other conferences across the United States.
My stories and Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts have been shared, liked or commented on by Taylor Swift, Rolling Stones, Mariah Carey, John Legend, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and more artists, actors, brands and publications. This celebrity engagement and brand engagement showcases the reach of my writing and highlights the influential impact my voice has online.
